When to Call a Termite Control Company
If you suspect a termite infestation or notice signs of termite damage in your home, it’s crucial to contact a professional termite control company immediately. Don’t wait until the problem worsens—timely intervention is key to minimizing damage and saving you from costly repairs. Keep reading to find out what you need to know about these wood-munching pests.
What Do Termites Look Like
Termites are tiny insects that resemble ants but have distinct features that set them apart. Unlike ants, termites have straight antennae and broad waists. Additionally, they are pale in color, ranging from creamy white to light brown.
Flying Termites vs. Flying Ants
It can be easy to mistake flying termites for flying ants. Certain members of both types of insects have wings and can swarm during certain seasons. However, there are notable differences. Flying termites have wings of equal length, while flying ants have constricted waists and wings of different lengths. If you notice swarms of flying insects around your home, it’s crucial to identify them correctly to determine the appropriate course of action.
Signs of Termites
Termites can be stealthy, but some signs may indicate their presence. Look out for the following signs in your home:
- Mud tubes along walls, foundations, and other surfaces
- Hollowed-out or damaged wood, including pin-sized holes in the wood
- Discarded wings after swarming season, which can be found near windowsills or light fixtures.
- Termite droppings that resemble pellets
- Scuttling or shuffling sounds in the walls
- Discolored walls, peeling paint, or damaged wallpaper
Call a termite inspection company immediately if you notice any of these problems.
Water Damage vs. Termite Damage
Did you know that termite damage can mimic water damage causing swollen and buckling floors? They can also leave a mildewy smell and damaged paint.
That is why it is essential to call a termite control company with experience in water and termite damage to determine the exact cause of your issues. At BAY, we have extensive experience in both.
Don’t Wait Until There Is a Problem to Schedule a Termite Inspection
Prevention is vital when it comes to termite control. That is why it is always a good idea to schedule regular termite inspections. BAY Crawl Space & Foundation Repair offers preventative termite treatments to prevent early signs of infestation, while killing off active infestations. This can save you from even more costly repairs.
How to Get Rid of Termites
Only an experienced exterminator should handle termite remediation. That is because termites can be extremely destructive if not properly treated. Additionally, you never know the extent of the termite damage until you manually probe and open the wall.
An experienced termite remediation company can ensure that we have effectively eliminated the termites and assessed the full extent of the damage. It is also essential to choose a company with extensive knowledge of foundation repair and carpentry to ensure that your structural repairs are done properly.
What Our Termite Treatments Include
At BAY, we treat termites with Bora-Care with Mold-Care. We spray this industry-leading solution on all visible lumber, including 100% of the wood floor framing and stem walls. This kills the existing termites and prevents them from coming back. It is also a great way to reduce mold growth in your home.

“Prompt, professional, and honest. I had an independent civil engineer out to inspect prior to the BAY CS&FR visit. I was afraid I might be oversold on repairs I didn’t need. This was not the case. BAY made the same observations and gave same explanations or better. Great job BAY on hiring honest and competent assessors. Very professional, will work with you again!”
